Girl Scouting encourages girls to learn and practice leadership skills. Girls are challenged to make a difference in the world and have the opportunity to earn special awards for their efforts. The Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards are the highest awards presented to a girl at the Junior, Cadette, and senior/Ambassador levels (respectively). There are specific pre-requisites for each award and pre-approval is needed from council for the Silver and Gold Awards. Girls should review the appropriate guide and sign up for Silver/Gold Award training before starting work on a project. (Trainings are listed on the council website.)
The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior (grades 4-5) can achieve. As you and your team plan and complete your Take Action project, you'll develop more confidence, meet new people, and have the kind of fun that happens when you work with other Girl Scouts to make a difference.
The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette (grades 6-8) can achieve. It gives you the chance to show that you are a leader who is organized, determined, and dedicated to improving your community.
The Girl Scout Gold Award represents the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. It recognizes girls in grades 9 through 12 who demonstrate extraordinary leadership through remarkable “Take Action” projects that have sustainable impact in their communities and beyond. Since 1916, girls have successfully answered the call to “Go Gold!” an action that indelibly marks them as accomplished members of their communities and the world.
